LifeNets, International

LifeNets International is a Cincinnati (Ohio) based, globally oriented non-profit humanitarian relief organization.〔http://www.lifenets.org/〕 The organization has successfully collaborated with U.S. State Department relief programs, universities, and other not-for-profit organizations and foundations. Founded in 1999, its mission is to relieve suffering through direct aid and support, to provide educational and training for needy program aid recipients to become self-sufficient, and to partner collaboratively with other organizations and agencies to leverage and extend the impact of contributions and other resources. The organization originally grew out of an informal network of relief groups, churches and concerned individuals across the United States. Having earned a reputation for a high-impact organization with a relatively small number of networked volunteers, LifeNets' formal mission statement profiles its unique focus: ''"LifeNets is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization which develops programs offering practical assistance that promote the well-being and self-sufficiency of disadvantaged people throughout the world and, where possible, encourages them to pass on their LifeNets benefit to others."''
LifeNets was formally founded in Indianapolis, Indiana〔http://lifenets.org/ibj2001.html〕 by Victor Kubik, a Christian pastor who in 1996 began working with a British pediatric surgeon to provide aid and relief to Ukrainian children suffering from severe aftereffects of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.〔http://www.lifenets.org/chernobyl〕 LifeNets is guided and supported by an independent board of directors, and holds accredited charity status from the Better Business Bureau,〔http://charityreports.bbb.org//indianapolis/human-services/lifenets-international-in-indianapolis-in-13218〕 as well as 501 c 3 non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service.〔http://www.guidestar.org/organizations/35-2083120/lifenets.aspx〕
==Leadership==

Victor Kubik stepped down as president in 2015, but remains on the board of directors. He was succeeded by Beverly Kubik as president, who was elected by unanimous vote of the board. While LifeNets works occasionally with various government agencies (in the United States and abroad) and NGOs, it neither holds nor endorses any political position.
LifeNets has an asset base of about a million US dollars. In 2014 it made and distributed grants and support funding of more than $422,000, but also rendered direct aid through in-kind support and donations of professional expertise by supporters. LifeNets has certified affiliates in Africa〔http://www.lifenets.org/rsa/〕 and the United States, including local certified chapters in the state of Washington and elsewhere. LifeNets makes its annual reports and financial statements〔http://www.lifenets.org/newsletter/〕 available through its website at lifenets.org.
